Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk the egg whites in a large bowl until frothy.
  3. Add the cream of tartar and keep whisking until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add the sugar, a spoonful at a time, while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form and the mixture is glossy.
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract and a few drops of green food coloring until well combined.
  6. Transfer the meringue into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  7. Pipe tree shapes onto the prepared baking sheets, making them as tall or short as you like.
  8. Sprinkle with red and gold star sprinkles for a festive touch.
  9. Bake for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the meringues are completely dry and can be easily lifted off the parchment paper.
  10. Turn off the oven and let the meringues cool inside for an hour.
