Ingredients
Scale
- 1 head of cabbage (about 2–3 lbs)
- 2 cups ground meat (beef, pork, or turkey)
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Trim off the root of the cabbage and gently take off the leaves one by one. Blanch each leaf in the boiling water for 1-2 minutes until pliable. Remove the leaves and rinse them under cold water to stop cooking. Pat dry.
- In a bowl, mix the ground meat, cooked rice, chopped onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Take a cabbage leaf, place a spoonful of the meat mixture at the base, and roll it up, tucking in the sides as you go.
- Place the rolls in a baking dish seam side down.
- Pour tomato sauce over the rolls and cover the dish with foil.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 45 minutes until cooked through.
- Let the rolls rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use day-old rice for better texture in filling. Rolls freeze well for meal prep.
