- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 8 slices provolone cheese (4 for filling, 4 for topping)
- Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the diced peppers and onions for about 5 minutes until softened. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef with breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until combined.
- Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of a loaf pan.
- Layer 4 slices of provolone cheese over the meat, then add the sautéed peppers and onions.
- Top with the remaining meat mixture, pressing down to seal the edges.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes. Add the remaining 4 slices of provolone on top in the last 5 minutes and bake until melted.
- Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers by letting the meatloaf cool completely, then wrap tightly or store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
