Overnight Breakfast Casserole

Overnight Breakfast Casserole

A hearty, make-ahead breakfast casserole that combines fluffy egg custard, savory sausage, and crunchy bread, perfect for busy mornings.

  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 6 cups cubed bread
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Brown the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Whisk together the eggs and milk in a large bowl. Add in salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, and mix well.
  3. Layer the cubed bread at the bottom of a greased baking dish. Evenly distribute the cooked sausage over the bread.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and sausage, ensuring everything is well coated.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top, creating a nice cheesy layer to melt during baking.
  6. Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) when ready to bake. Remove the plastic wrap and bake for 45 minutes or until the casserole is set and golden brown.

Notes

Let it soak overnight for the best flavor. Use stale bread for better texture. Customize with veggies or different cheeses.
