- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- Confectioners’ sugar for dusting
- Raspberry jam or chocolate for dipping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a madeleine pan with butter.
- Melt the butter and let it cool slightly.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs and granulated sugar until pale and frothy.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and melted butter.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Spoon the batter into the madeleine pan, filling each mold about three-quarters full.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before gently removing the cookies from the pan.
- Dust with confectioners’ sugar or dip the tips in raspberry jam or chocolate before serving.
Notes
Ensure the pan is well-greased to prevent sticking. Letting the batter chill for 10 minutes can lead to fluffier Madeleines.
