Homemade Alfredo Sauce with 4 Ingredients

A rich and velvety Alfredo sauce that comes together in under 20 minutes with just four simple ingredients.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 12 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium skillet over medium-low heat.
  2. Sauté the minced garlic in the melted butter for 30–45 seconds until fragrant (do not brown).
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring often.
  4. Reduce heat to low and whisk in the freshly grated Parmesan a little at a time until the sauce is smooth and thickened.
  5. Season with salt and plenty of freshly ground black pepper, taste, and adjust.
  6. Toss the sauce with hot cooked pasta (reserve a little pasta water to loosen the sauce if needed) and serve immediately.

Notes

Use freshly grated Parmesan for a silkier sauce. Reheat gently and add a splash of cream or pasta water if needed.
