Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese 2026 01 07 201904 683x1024 1

Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese

A sweet and savory twist on a classic grilled cheese sandwich made with soft Hawaiian rolls and gooey Monterey Jack cheese.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 Hawaiian rolls (slider-size or 4 large split)
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Sliced tomatoes (optional, as desired)
  • 23 strips crispy bacon (optional, cooked and crumbled)
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half without cutting all the way through.
  2. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and butter the insides of each roll.
  3. Place the bottom halves of the rolls on the skillet and fill generously with cheese. Press down slightly with the top halves.
  4. Grill until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side, flipping carefully.
  5. Once both sides are crispy and cheese is melted, remove from heat, slice, and serve hot.

Notes

For perfectly melted cheese without burning, start at medium heat, then lower to medium-low after the first 1–2 minutes. You can also customize with add-ins like bacon, tomatoes, or vegan cheese.
