- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup unsulfured molasses
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
- Cream the softened butter and brown sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, stirring until well combined.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until everything is just combined.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough and roll them in powdered sugar until well-coated.
- Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about two inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chill the dough for about 30 minutes for best results. Don’t overbake.
