  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • ⅔ cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the sugar and melted butter for about 1 minute until light and airy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the sour cream until fully mixed.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle the top with the 2 tablespoons of sugar.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
