- 1 package filo dough
- 1/2 cup melted butter or olive oil
- 1 cup filling (e.g., cheese, spinach, or nuts)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Additional herbs or spices of your choice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Lay out a sheet of filo dough on a clean surface and brush it lightly with melted butter or olive oil.
- Layer another sheet of filo on top and brush again with melted butter.
- Spoon your chosen filling across one end of the dough, leaving space at the edges.
- Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and any additional herbs or spices you prefer.
- Fold the sides of the filo over the filling and roll it up tightly from the filling side to form a log.
- Place the rolled pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the top with more melted butter to help it crisp up nicely.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and flaky.
Notes
To make vegan/gluten-free, use plant-based butter and gluten-free filo dough. For extra flavor, add pesto or sun-dried tomatoes.
