A quick and easy festive treat made with saltine crackers, chocolate, and caramel. Perfect for gifting or enjoying at home!

Ingredients

  • 40 Saltine crackers
  • 1 cup Butter, melted
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 cups Chocolate chips, semi-sweet
  • 1 cup Nuts, chopped (optional)
  • 1 cup Candy canes, crushed (optional)
  • Sea salt, for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper, then arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.
  3. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then add the brown sugar.
  4. Stir the mixture until it begins to boil, then let it boil for 3 minutes without stirring.
  5. Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the saltine crackers.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot caramel.
  8. Let the chocolate sit for a few minutes to melt, then spread it out smoothly with a spatula.
  9. Top with chopped nuts and crushed candy canes if desired; then sprinkle with a little sea salt.
  10. Cool completely before breaking into pieces.

Notes

Don’t skip the foil for easy cleanup. Monitor baking time to prevent burning, and allow to cool fully for the best crunch.
