- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 pound sausage or ham, cooked and crumbled
- 4 cups bread cubes (or hash browns)
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (such as cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1 cup chopped vegetables (like bell peppers or spinach) – optional
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a large baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Whisk together the eggs and milk in a large bowl. Add salt and pepper.
- Layer the bread cubes (or hash browns) in the bottom of the prepared dish.
- Spread the cooked sausage or ham evenly over the bread layer.
- Sprinkle the chopped vegetables over the top if using.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layers.
- Top with shredded cheese and let it sit for about 10 minutes before baking.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the casserole is set and golden.
Notes
Let it cook longer if it still jiggles in the center; it needs to be firm and set. Use a variety of cheeses for extra flavor.
