- 2 cups cooked chickpeas, mashed
- 1 cup oats
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mash the cooked chickpeas in a large bowl until smooth but still a bit chunky.
- Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic until evenly combined.
- Add oats, breadcrumbs, ketchup, maple syrup, soy sauce, thyme, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well until a dough forms.
- Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan, pressing it down firmly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and firm.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Don’t skip the cooling time: This helps the loaf firm up for easier slicing. Experiment with spices or add walnuts for extra flavor.
