Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 3/4 cup water
- Cookie cutters
- Baking sheet
- String or ribbon (for hanging)
- Optional: Paint or glitter for decoration
Instructions
- In a medium pot, combine the baking soda, cornstarch, and water. Stir well until mixed.
- Place the pot on the stove over medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Transfer the dough to a bowl and let it cool for a few minutes until safe to handle.
- Roll out the dough on a flat surface. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and make a small hole at the top for hanging.
- Place the shapes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°F (80°C) for about 1-2 hours until hard.
- Once cooled, decorate your ornaments with paint, glitter, or leave them plain.
- Thread a string or ribbon through the hole, and your ornaments are ready to hang!
Notes
Knead the dough until smooth for easy cutting. Use a straw to poke holes if you forget during the first step. Experiment with scents by adding cinnamon or vanilla to the dough.
